How to Pop a Casual Updo the Easy Way
Wear what makes you feel good.
Your outfit changes how you feel, and how you accessorize changes your outfit. The best pieces are versatile, just like one of our favorite classic hairstyles: the casual updo.
Good hair counts as one of your impact accessories, completely necessary to take your outfit from fine (nothing wrong with it!) to stellar (we’re jealous!). Different accents can change the exact same basics into a dozen different outfits -- a win for the environment and your wallet.
So, we make accessories everyone can feel good in. There’s enough good taste to go around.
Work our classic giant bobby pin.
A crowd favorite, our giant bobby pin can work with your casual updo no matter your hair type -- but it’s one of the only pieces up to the challenge of holding up locks with serious volume.

Just grab your hair at the nape of your neck (or mid-way down for a half-up!) and twirl til it’s tight. Next, start from the left side of the bun, pushing the hair stick through. Then, switch back and weave through the bun from right to left, getting a secure hold. Just leave any pieces of hair you want free outside the pin. It’ll loosen up a bit, so you won’t get a headache. It’s a casual updo, anyway.
If your hair is curly, wild, big and beautiful, this works great. Folks with straight hair too thick for a ponytail (ow), this is your moment too. Similar products on the market are made from materials like acrylic that will snap under pressure, but our Giant Bobby Pins are durable and up to the challenge.
Short hair can have fun, too.
You don’t need three-foot-long tresses to live out your casual updo dreams. Smaller hair accessories come to the rescue and help you let your hair UP.

Casual updos should never hurt anyone.
Right? But… they do sometimes.
We recently made the switch from traditional plastics to more sustainable, plant-derived materials for our Giant Bobby Pins. We’re a small brand, and this is us being transparent. As we scale, we’re doing our best to make good choices with the resources we have.
The future of fashion is inclusive, sustainable, and honest. We hope that soon, all of our materials will be 100% sustainable, not only ethically made. We’re working towards sustainability one step at a time! But we couldn’t do it without you.
